Today on Pillar Talk with Rochelle, teacher, coach, and mentor Katherine Southerland, aka Coach K, takes us on a journey of how her "environment" motivated her to champion students from the classroom to the court. Hardship and adversity is no contender for this remarkable survivor. Inspired by her amazing mother, she leads out of authenticity, compassion, hard work, and determination. Growing up in an environment where she felt loved but witnessed and experienced a lot of hurt and pain, she doesn't waste a drop of any of it on self-pity. Professionally and in her spare time, you can find Coach K developing students in health class, leading to a stellar health fair open to the community or building leaders on the basketball court and summer camps. "Make something great out of something bad." —Katherine Southerland.
